Abstract
El
uso
de
los
dispositivos
móviles
como
Smartphones
o
Tablets
ha
experimentado
un
gran
crecimiento
durante
los
últimos
años.
Estos
dispositivos
cuentan
con
diversas
tecnologías
como
cámaras,
conexión
a
internet,
localizador
GPS,
sensores
de
movimiento,
etc.
Y
gracias
a
su
pequeño
tamaño
y
autonomía,
esta
tecnología
puede
llevarse
a
cualquier
lugar
sin
la
necesidad
de
estar
conectado
mediante
cables.
Estos
hechos
facilitan
que
los
dispositivos
puedan
ser
sensibles
al
entorno
y
los
hábitos
del
usuario,
permitiendo
el
desarrollo
de
sistemas
ubicuos
que
reduzcan
el
esfuerzo
de
los
usuarios
para
realizar
tareas
cotidianas.
Una
de
las
tecnologías
de
computación
ubicua
más
prometedoras,
y
que
se
encuentra
en
pleno
proceso
de
desarrollo,
es
la
realidad
aumentada,
la
cual
tiene
como
objetivo
fusionar
el
mundo
real
con
el
mundo
virtual.
Esta
tarea
se
consigue
mediante
la
superposición
de
elementos
virtuales,
como
pueden
ser
imágenes,
videos,
elementos
3D
o
audios,
sobre
la
imagen
capturada
en
tiempo
real
por
una
cámara.
Aun
siendo
una
tecnología
algo
inmadura
actualmente,
los
avances
conseguidos
ya
permiten
la
aplicación
de
ésta
en
muchos
ámbitos,
y
entre
otros,
en
el
arte
y
la
cultura.
Existen
algunos
interesados
relacionados
con
el
mundo
de
las
creaciones
artísticas
y
las
exposiciones
culturales
que
se
han
hecho
eco
del
posible
beneficio
de
la
aplicación
de
esta
tecnología
en
su
campo.
Debido
a
esto,
requieren
de
algún
tipo
de
herramienta
que
les
permita
realizar
creaciones
de
realidad
aumentada
y
distribuirlas,
sin
que
su
uso
necesite
de
conocimientos
en
programación.
En
la
actualidad
ya
existen
herramientas
para
esto,
pero
pueden
resultar
algo
limitadas
y
complicadas
para
sus
usuarios,
y
además,
suelen
requerir
del
uso
de
un
ordenador.
Este
proyecto
se
centra
en
el
diseño,
desarrollo
y
evaluación
de
un
sistema
prototipo,
denominado
ARt,
que
permite
la
creación
y
distribución
de
experiencias
de
realidad
aumentada.
Con
este
sistema
se
pretende
superar
las
limitaciones
de
las
herramientas
ya
existentes,
y
llevarlas
a
un
entorno
ubicuo
mediante
el
uso
de
dispositivos
como
Tablets
o
Smartphones.
El
sistema
propuesto
esta
formado
por
dos
aplicaciones
ARt
Maker,
orientada
a
un
perfil
creador,
que
permite
crear,
distribuir
y
visualizar
experiencias
de
realidad
aumentada.
Y
ARt
Visor,
enfocada
a
un
rol
de
observador,
que
permite
la
visualización
de
las
experiencias
creadas
con
ARt
Maker.
Para
la
elaboración
de
este
proyecto
se
hace
uso
de
tecnologías
el
sistema
operativo
móvil
Android,
el
framework
de
realidad
aumentada
Wikitude,
o
el
sistema
de
almacenamiento
de
archivos
en
la
nube,
Dropbox.
The use of mobile devices like Smartphones or Tablets has experimented a big growing during the last years. These devices count with several technologies as cameras, internet connection, GPS localization, movement sensors, etc. And thanks to their little size and great autonomy, this technology can carry to any place without the necessity of being cabled. These make devices aware of the environment and the users habits, foment the development of ubiquitous systems reducing the users’ efforts during day-‐by-‐day tasks. One of the most promising technologies of the ubiquitous computing, that is in full process of developing, is the augmented reality. Its goal is to melt the real world with the virtual world. This task can be achieved by the superposition of virtual elements, like images, videos, 3D elements or audios, over the real time image captured by a camera. Although augmented reality is nowadays still immature, the improves achieved during the last years allow its use in disparate areas such as art and culture. There are some people associated with the artistic creation world and cultural expositions who are interested about this, who have listened about the possible benefit of the application of this technology at their field. Because of that, they need some type of tool that allow them to make and distribute augmented reality without programming skills. Nowadays, there are already some tools which try to deal with this problem, but they can are limited and still difficult to use to users with no high technical skills. Moreover they usually need to be used through a PC, because a big part of these are web applications. This project is centered on the design, the develop and the evaluation of a prototype system, called ARt that allows users to create and distribute augmented reality experiences. It is about getting over the limitations of the current augmented reality experiences creation systems. The proposed system consists of two applications, ARt Maker, which is destined to the creation and distribution of augmented reality experiences, and will be used by users with “creator” role, and ARt Visor, that will allow users to visualize the experiences created by ARt Maker, and which will be used by users with a “visitor” role. The elaboration of this project is made by using technologies like Android mobile operative system, an augmented reality framework called Wikitude and a storage cloud system named Dropbox.
