Abstract
Governo do povo, para o povo, pelo povo. Diante de tal afirmação democrática, infelizmente, percebe-se atualmente um certo distanciamento entre o povo e seus representantes. Aparentemente, o cidadão comum está a cada dia mais longe das decisões políticas que o cercam. Em Portugal, como no Brasil, um dos instrumentos para intervenção direta no processo democrático dá-se através do referendo. No entanto, sua utilização em ambos países é ainda muito acanhada. Porém, com a era da informação, e a revolução tecnológica presente, o futuro parece promissor na efetiva e eficaz participação popular nas tomadas de decisões da sociedade.
Government of the people, by the people, for the people. Faced with such a democratic assertion, unfortunately, there is now a certain distance between the people and their representatives. Apparently, the average citizen is more and more distant from the political decisions that surround him. In Portugal, as in Brazil, one of the instruments for direct intervention in the democratic process is through referendum. However, their use in both countries still very poor. However, with the information age, and the present technological revolution, the future seems promising in effective participation in the decision-making of society.
