Abstract
This work tries to call the attention over a sector practically ignored by Spanish economical history in spite of the importance that sea-fishing has had, and still has, not only to certain coastal regions. Broadly speaking two parts can be distinguished: in the first one we deal with físhing statistics and its usage problems, mainly with the aim of seeing the possibilities to rebuild a series of production. In the second one, the growth of the fishing production and other economical sectors is compared trying to evaluate its importance and framing the fishing in Europe as a whole. Finally, we try to find out what's the growth based on: if this has been merely extensive or, on the other hand, there was a process of technical transformations wich took shape in an increase of productivity.
