Abstract
Empleando apoyos no uniformemente
Solar central receivers are complex systems under severe working conditions: cyclic heat flux during the day that causes thermal stress, and the contact with a corrosive fluid, which flows through the tubes which compose the receiver panels. The boundary mechanical boundary conditions of the receiver tubes are highly hyperstatic, preventing the tube bending and the panel warpage. Under these working conditions, tubes can suffer from fatigue, creep, and thermal stress problems. This doctoral dissertation deepens in the thermal stresses characterization in tubular solar receivers, exploring its causes and finding the conditions that influence the most in the thermal stresses. The aim of this doctoral thesis is to provide a more detailed insight into the thermal stress problem in solar tubular receivers, giving recommendations and analysis tools for the design process of those receivers. Firstly, the boundary conditions that affect thermal stresses, along with the studied problems from a real solar power plant are presented. The numerical methodology used in this doctoral thesis to calculate the thermal stresses is introduced, and it is verified with existing analytical methodologies. The influence of temperature variations (radial, circumferential, and longitudinal) in thermal stress has been studied. The study of thermal stresses variation in a solar central receiver during its daily operation is also presented. This study highlights the influence of the mechanical boundary conditions and the circumferential temperature variation in the thermal stress of the tubes. An analytical model that reduces the computation cost compared with numerical models has been developed. For different heliostat aiming strategies, this model is used to calculate the thermal stress and deflection of the receiver tubes, as a function of the number of longitudinal supports. The use of non-uniformly spaced supports to reduce the tube deflection is also analyzed. The location of the supports has to be carefully studied for each aiming strategy, being the tube ends where maximum deflection is usually located when the distance between supports is small. When the distance between supports is small, generalized plane strain methodologies calculate the thermal stress along the tube accurately. Finally, the shape of those longitudinal supports has been taken into account. Their geometry has been added to the numerical model to study the influence in the thermal stresses and tube deflection, for different sizes. Analytical results trying to mirror those boundary conditions have been compared. The possibility of heat losses through the supports has been also considered. It was been studied with several numerical models, obtaining the temperature distribution and the consequent thermal stresses. Although there is some temperature reduction in the rear are of the tubes, no remarkable changes in the thermal stresses can be observed when supports shape is considered.
