Abstract
Se analizan los proyectos internacionales de reforma y ampliación de las normas sobre tesauros, emprendidos con el objeto de refundir las normas y recomendaciones existentes, adaptar estos instrumentos al nuevo entorno digital, explicitar su relación con otras herramientas de control de vocabulario y facilitar la interoperabilidad entre todas ellas. En este contexto, se presentan la misión, los objetivos y la metodología de trabajo del grupo de Vocabularios Controlados para la Recuperación de Información del Comité 50 de la Asociación Española de Normalización (AENOR), que se constituyó oficialmente el 23 de junio de 2006. Su misión es promover en el marco de AENOR la adecuación de la normativa española sobre tesauros a las nuevas tendencias internacionales siguiendo la estela de las iniciativas norteamericana ANSI/NISO Z39.19-2005, y, especialmente, de la mas completa propuesta por el British Standard Institute (BS 8723). En consonancia con esta última, el objetivo operativo del grupo es reunificar las normas relativas a tesauros monolingües y multilingües —a saber la UNE 50106:1990, UNE 50106:1995 Erratum y UNE UNE 50125:1997— en una sola que comprenda además el resto de los lenguajes documentales, señaladamente los encabezamientos de materia, las clasificaciones y las taxonomías. Además, se busca establecer los mecanismos de interconexión entre los distintos lenguajes y, finalmente, conectar los lenguajes documentales con los avances que se están produciendo desde la Informática en el campo de las ontologías. Para alcanzar estos objetivos se ha programado un plan de trabajo en cuatro fases: análisis de los cambios en curso y de la norma internacional; colaboración con el grupo británico en la revisión de algunas partes; estudio de la conveniencia de traducir y adaptar la norma BS 8723 como norma UNE; y colaboración con el grupo inglés y los demás interesados en la promoción de la norma internacional.
The international projects for reforming and broadening the scope of the current technical guidelines and standards on thesauri are analyzed. Their aims are to recast the existing standards and guidelines, to adapt them to the new digital environment, and to specify their relation with other vocabulary control tools, making easier their interoperability. In this context, the mission, goals and methodology of the Committee 50’s taskforce on controlled vocabularies of the Spanish Standardization Association (AENOR) are presented. Its mission is promoting in the frame of the AENOR the adaptation of the Spanish standards on thesauri to the new international trends, following the work of the American initiative ANSI/NISO Z39.19-2005, and specially the more complete BS 8723, proposed by the British Standard Institute. According to this last one, the group aims are a) to reunify the standards on monolingual and multilingual thesauri —this is UNE 50106:1990, UNE 50106:1995 Erratum y UNE UNE 50125:1997— in a single one, comprising also the rest of the indexing languages, mainly subject headings, classifications and taxonomies; and b) to clarify the principles and tools among to interconnect the different languages among them and with the emerging field of computer ontologies. To achieve those aims, a working plan in four phases has been established: analysis of the international normative and technological context; cooperation with the British group in the revision of some parts of BS 8723; studying the appropriateness of adopting the norm BS 8723 as a UNE standard; and cooperating with the British group and other interested parts on the promotion of an ISO standard.
