Abstract
El objetivo fundamental de este trabajo es llevar a cabo un acercamiento al proceso evolutivo de los adverbios y locuciones adverbiales hasta su función como marcadores del discurso: dentro de este conjunto de elementos estudiaremos de manera concreta los marcadores que expresan modalidad y, específicamente, los de modalidad epistémica. Un trabajo de esta naturaleza conlleva comenzar con el establecimiento de un marco metodológico, en el que se atienda a los aspectos fundamentales que atañen a este tipo de elementos: para ello, en primer lugar, revisaremos el concepto de gramaticalización, observando de manera específica los procesos de cambio que tienen lugar en este conjunto de elementos y, en segundo lugar, estudiaremos la modalidad, de la que haremos una descripción y en la cual enmarcaremos los adverbios que tratamos en este trabajo.
La segunda parte de este estudio consistirá en el análisis diacrónico de un conjunto de formas pertenecientes a la modalidad epistémica: quizá, tal vez, a lo mejor, acaso, lo mismo, igual, posiblemente, probablemente, seguramente y con seguridad. Mediante este análisis trataremos de observar y describir los mecanismos de cambio que afectan a los elementos mencionados y cómo modifican estos su valor y su función en el ámbito oracional y discursivo. Así, para poder ofrecer una propuesta adecuada y específica del cambio que experimenta cada una de las formas, realizaremos una selección de ejemplos pertenecientes a diferentes periodos históricos, mediante los cuales podremos observar su evolución.
La tercera parte de este trabajo se basará en la propuesta de representación de este conjunto de elementos en un diccionario histórico, para lo cual será necesario revisar las características de un diccionario de esta naturaleza y la información necesaria que debe aportar cada descripción.
Por último, expondremos las conclusiones obtenidas del análisis diacrónico que llevaremos a cabo en las páginas finales.
The main aim of this thesis is to carry out an approach to the evolution processes of the adverbs and adverbial locutions to their discourse markers function: in this group, we will focus on discourse markers which express modality and, specifically, epistemic modality. A work of this nature needs to be started by the establishment of a methodological field, in which we will take into account fundamental aspects according to this type of elements: first of all, we will review the concept of grammaticalization, attending specifically to the process of change that takes place in this kind of elements and, secondly, we will study the modality, of which we will make a description and in which we will place the discourse markers studied in this work. The second part of this thesis will consist on the diachronic analysis of a few discourse markers belonging to epistemic modality: quizá, tal vez, a lo mejor, acaso, lo mismo, igual, posiblemente, probablemente, seguramente and con seguridad. Through this analysis we will try to discover and to describe the mechanisms of change that affect the mentioned elements and how they modify their meaning and function in the sentence and discourse context. To offer an appropriate and specific propose of the change experimented by them, we will select some different examples belonging to different historic periods, with which we will look at their evolution. The third part of this thesis will be based on the representation proposal of this group of elements in a historic dictionary, for what it will be necessary to review the characteristics of a dictionary like this and the necessary information that should be shown in every description. Finally, we will present the conclusions obtained by the diachronic analysis that will be taken place in the final pages.
