Abstract
El análisis de la relación entre Cultura Escrita e Iconografía en los mosaicos romanos de época imperial pretende delimitar el influjo que desde los poemas homéricos hasta los autores contemporáneos de las representaciones musivas se puede apreciar y confirmar en un amplio repertorio destinado, mayoritariamente, a pavimentar estancias de domus y villae, pertenecientes a la élite de las diversas áreas geográficas del Imperio, ofreciendo, en este sentido, un panorama más completo del nivel cultural de algunos domini, ya que, aun rehuyendo cualquier generalización, la autora defiende en virtud de las consideraciones especificas que marcan el encargo de los mosaicos la hipótesis que contempla en algunos casos la involucración más o menos activa de los comanditarios. En esta primera parte, el trabajo se ha concentrado particularmente en aquellos documentos que de modo ineludible revelan la estrecha sintonía entre Cultura Escrita e iconografía; mientras que en una segunda parte se abordará el análisis de representaciones, en teoría dependientes de un texto, pero cuya relación no es, en sentido estricto, tan nítida.
This analysis of the relation between written culture and iconography in Roman mosaics from the Imperial era attempts to specify the influence of the representation of the muses, ranging from Homeric poems to contemporary authors, that can be detected and confirmed in a wide range of works designed mostly to pave palace and villa rooms belonging to elites in different geographic areas of the Empire. It thus offers a more complete overview of the cultural level of certain domini, and while rejecting broad generalizations, the author defends on the basis of the commissions of the mosaics the hypothesis of the active involvement of their patrons. The first part of the article focuses particularly on those documents that clearly reveal the close relation between written culture and iconography, while the second analyzes the representations theoretically linked to texts, the relation of which is nevertheless, strictly speaking, not so clear.
