Abstract
This project involves the simulation with the structural software LS-Dyna, of the resistance of a carbon fiber laminate under ballistic impacts study further embodiment of the laminate resistance after impact. This first simulation model is validated to assert that the results can be extrapolated to reality. Later, it has been proceeded to do a study of the optimization of simulation time trying different configurations of parallel computing which are allowed by the software LS-Dyna. Finally, the study of postimpact strength (CAI test) for different impact velocities is performed. In the analysis of the results the energy absorption of the fibers is shown as a function of the orientation of the same in the moment in which the compression of the laminate is made. A study of the relationship of both velocity impact and delaminated area, in the last compressive breaking strength of the plate, are also performed.
