Desarrollo de un portal web para una oficina de software libre

Abstract

En la actual sociedad de la información en la que vivimos (frenética y en constante cambio, donde la inmediatez se ha convertido en un factor clave), la presencia en Internet es fundamental si se desea que los principios, ideas o información que pretendemos difundir lleguen al mayor público posible. En la actualidad, cualquier empresa, organización, entidad, o incluso usuario personal cuenta con su propio espacio en la Web en el que ofrecer, a todo aquel que lo desee, la información que buscan y que ellos poseen. Pero no basta solamente con existir: hace falta ser visto. Y para ello, cualquier sitio web que aspire a tener una cierta relevancia en el vasto universo de información que es la World Wide Web deberá contar con unas ciertas características (de apariencia, uso, acceso e interacción) que no sólo suponga una experiencia agradable para el usuario, sino que la haga destacar por encima de sus competidores. La Web se mueve deprisa, y es necesario mantener el ritmo para no quedarse rezagado. Por ello, mantener una web actualizada, con las últimas tendencias en tecnologías y aplicaciones será una de las claves del éxito a la hora de que nuestros usuarios potenciales lleguen para quedarse. El presente proyecto pretende ofrecer a una entidad en concreto, la Oficina de Software Libre de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, esa presencia en la Web, proporcionando un portal de calidad con unos servicios a la altura de sus necesidades de comunicación y difusión. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In this society of information we currently live in (frenzied and constantly changing, where the achievement of immediate results has become a key factor), the presence on the Internet is fundamental if we wish for the principles, ideas or information we mean to share to reach the biggest possible audience. Nowadays, any enterprise, organization, entity or even personal user has its own place in the Web. From there they can offer, to anyone who wants it, the information they have and others are looking for. But being there is not enough: one needs to be seen. For that purpose, any website aiming for certain relevance within the vast universe of information that is the World Wide Web should boast certain characteristics (appearance, use, access and interactivity) that will not only make the experience enjoyable for the user, but also make it rise above its competitors. The Web moves fast, and keeping up with its rhythm is necessary in order not to get left behind. That’s the reason why keeping a website updated, with the latest technologies and applications, will be the key to success and making our potential users come to stay. The present project means to offer that kind of presence in the Web to one particular entity, the Free Software Office of the Carlos III University of Madrid, providing a quality portal with services up to its communication and broadcasting needs.
