This thesis aims to analyze this contemporary phenomenon from the right to refuge as a basis for international protection, to determine its scope and limitations in the regional context. To support this objective, the paper will analyze whether the response by the principal host countries effectively adjusts to or applies the international standard of the right to refuge, taking into account the regional regulatory framework, as well as the most relevant rulings or decisions of the Universal and Inter-American protection systems.La crisis sociopolítica y la agudización de la violencia generalizada y la violación masiva a los derechos humanos en la República Bolivariana de Venezuela han ocasionado la migración forzada de millones de personas en los últimos años, cuya gran mayoría ha buscado protección en los países de la región, situación que ha generado una verdadera crisis migratoria en América Latina. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar este fenómeno contemporáneo desde el derecho al refugio, como categoría de protección internacional, para determinar sus alcances y limitaciones en el contexto regional.
