Asimismo, se analiza la interpretación que sobre ella ha realizado la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos en sus años de funcionamiento, especialmente sobre el valor jurídico, a través de su jurisprudencia, opiniones consultivas y sentencias.The article deals with the antecedents, the origen, the content, the evolution and the main characteristics of the American Declaration of the Rights and Duties of Man approved in 1948, within the framework of the Organization of American States, an American regional organization, that performs a importat role in what is now known as the Inter-American System of Human Rights.
