A través de la comparación entre la tratadística y otros géneros literarios, especialmente las llamadas relaciones de sucesos en los pliegos de cordel (fuente muy poco utilizada hasta ahora a pesar de su valor historiográfico), se puede ver cómo se produce esa falta de concordancia entre la realidad y la representación cultural, al tiempo que se utiliza esta última, consciente, pero también inconscientemente (al buscar los gustos del lector), para transmitir una justificadora imagen de las empresas bélicas de la monarquía.This work tries to demonstrate the importance of the culture of war in the Spanish Golden Age. It also aims to show, through cultural messages, the existence of a gap between the technical reality of the army and its action. Through the comparison between treatise literature and other literary genres, especially the so called «cordel sheets» (source scarcely used in spite of is historiographic value), we can see this lack of concordance.
