RT Journal Article T1 The HR department's contribution to line managers' effective implementation of HR practices A1 Trullen Fernandez, Jordi A1 Stirpe, Luigi A1 Bonache, Jaime A1 Valverde Aparicio, Mireia AB The implementation of human resource (HR) practices (HRPs) is increasingly regarded as a cornerstone in theachievement of overall HRMeffectiveness. This article addresses the role of the HR department in contributingto line managers’ (LMs) effective implementation of HRPs. It does so by comparing the actions of HRdepartments in both effective and ineffective implementation processes in different firms. Its findings reveal thatHR departments can make a difference by taking initiatives that foster LMs’ implementation abilities, motivation and opportunities, such as deploying in-the-field HR specialists, framing practices in appealingways, involving LMs in the development of HRPs and seeking CEO support, among others. By fleshing outthese HR initiatives and linking them to the AMO framework, we build an inductive model that offers a morenuanced view of what HR departments can do to have their proposals effectively implemented by LMs. PB Wiley SN 0954-5395 YR 2016 FD 2016-11-01 LK https://hdl.handle.net/10016/34581 UL https://hdl.handle.net/10016/34581 LA eng NO The authors acknowledge the financial support provided by the Ministerio de Economía yCompetitividad, Secretaría de Estado de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación (ECO2012-37314).
