RT Journal Article T1 Psychosocial disability and deprivation of liberty: reviewing the case of Qatar in the light of the Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities A1 Cuenca Gómez, Patricia A1 Barranco Avilés, María del Carmen A1 Rodríguez Del Pozo, Pablo AB This paper analyses the main implications of the prohibition of deprivation of liberty on the basis of disability in the field on mental health under the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its impact in Qatar’s legal system. It shows the contradiction between the specific regimes of deprivation of liberty of persons with psychosocial disabilities and Article 14 of the Convention. The paper also proposes some changes in Qatar’s system to ensure that persons with psychosocial disabilities enjoy the right to liberty on equal terms with others.
