T1 El primer fracaso del INI en Asturias: SIASA (1942-1971)

AB La intervención del INI en Asturias se produce en fecha temprana y se dirige haciala industria siderúrgica, de arraigada tradición en la región. El primer destinatario delos fondos del INI será un proyecto típico del período autárquico: la fabricación de unsustitutivo de la chatarra que permita alimentar los altos hornos para la obtención deacero nacional sin tener que recurrir a la importación de la materia prima mineral. Laempresa encargada de tal fabricación, SIASA, acaba quebrando por problemas de mercado,a su vez derivados de una estrategia de política industrial que habrá de revelarsecomo inadecuada y por completo ineficaz.
AB The intervention of the INI (The National Industry Institute) took place in anearly date and it was directed towards the iron and steel industry, of established traditionin the región. A typical project of the self-sufficient period will be the firstaddressee of the moncy of the INI. It consisted in the making of a substitute for thescrap iron which allowed to feed the blast furnaces to get the national steel withouthaving to resort to the importation of the mineral raw material. The company thattook charge of the making, SIASA, went bankrupt because of the market difficulties,which were derived from a strategy of industrial policy that will reveal as inadequateand whoUy inefficient
