This article describesthe individual, strategic andorganizational variables that a sample ofEuropean firms use to determinewhether to adopt these EMS. It alsodiscusses the most frequently usedenvironmental standards, the outsideinfluences that motivate directors toimplement them and the personalperceptions that playa key role indetermining whether the standards willbe adopted.
