AB El presente trabajo pretende demostrar la importancia de la cultura de la guerra en la España del Siglo de Oro y cómo se fue produciendo un desfase entre la realidad técnica del ejército y sus formas de actuación con los mensajes culturales que se iban produciendo. A través de la comparación entre la tratadística y otros géneros literarios, especialmente las llamadas relaciones de sucesos en los pliegos de cordel (fuente muy poco utilizada hasta ahora a pesar de su valorhistoriográfico), se puede ver cómo se produce esa falta de concordancia entre la realidad y la representación cultural, al tiempo que se utiliza esta última, consciente, pero también inconscientemente (al buscar los gustos del lector), para transmitiruna justificadora imagen de las empresas bélicas de la monarquía.
AB This work tries to demonstrate the importance of the culture of warin the Spanish Golden Age. It also aims to show, through cultural messages, theexistence of a gap between the technical reality of the army and its action. Throughthe comparison between treatise literature and other literary genres, especially theso called «cordel sheets» (source scarcely used in spite of is historiographic value),we can see this lack of concordance. The gap between reality and its cultural representationlatter is used consciously, but also unconsciously, to transmit a justifyingimage of the warlike actions of Monarchy.
