AB La recuperación y posterior difusión de las denominadas Cartas de Mandé y Kurukan Fuga ha supuesto un hito para la consideración de antecedentes remotos de los derechos humanos en el continente africano. El presente trabajo presenta ambos textos y estudia la conexión entre estos antecedentes y la estructura actual del sistema de protección de los derechos humanos en África. La legitimación de la actual regulación de este sistema a través de fuentes consuetudinarias precoloniales podría afectar a la universalidad en la concepción de los derechos humanos
AB The recovery and subsequent spread of the texts known as Manden Charter and Charter of Fuga Kurukan means a discovery for the consideration of historical causes of human rights in Africa. This paperpresents both charters and studies the connection between history and current structure of the system for protecting human rights in Africa. The legitimacy of the current regulation of this system through pre-colonial customary sources could affect the universality of the concept of human rights
