AB This Thesis presents three studies on gender issues in accounting, governance andrisk aversion. Chapter one analyzes the effects of the introduction of gender quotason boards of directors on the monitoring role of boards. Chapter two studieswhether males and females have different preferences over risk than their malecounterparts in the particular setting of a multiple choice exam. Finally, chapterthree studies the determinants—at firm level—of hiring female board members ina context characterized by increasing social pressure toward gender diversity onboards of directors.
AB Esta Tesis presenta tres estudios sobre temas de género en contabilidad, gobiernocorporativo y aversión al riesgo. En el primer capítulo se estudia el efecto deimplementar cuotas de género en consejos de dirección sobre el monitoreo querealizan dichos consejos. En el segundo capítulo se estudia si las mujeres presentandiferencias en sus preferencias sobre riesgo respecto a los hombres en un contextoparticular, un examen de opción múltiple. Finalmente, el tercer capítulo estudia losdeterminantes de contratar mujeres como miembros del consejo en un contexto defuertes presiones sociales para incrementar la diversidad de género en los consejos.
