Abstract
Este trabajo presenta un modelo muy sencillo que permite especificar la velocidad de ajuste del empleo frente a las variaciones en el output como una magnitud variable dependiente inversamente del nivel de desempleo. Esta variable actúa satisfactoriamente como un indicador de las condiciones en que la empresa habrá de afrontar aumentos o reducciones de plantilla. El modelo se estima para el sector industrial en españa durante el período 1964-1982 y los resultados se comparan con los obtenidos para otros países de la OCDE.
This paper presents a very simple model which allows for a non constant specification of the speed of adjustment of employment with respect to variations in output, being an inverse function of the level of unemployment. This variable performs satisfactorily as an indicator of tightness in the labour market when the firm faces an increase or decrease of its workforce. The model is estimated in the Spanish industrial sector during 1964-1982 and the results are compaired to those obtained for other 0.E.C.D. countries.
