Abstract
El estudio de las memorias, los escritos y las obras de dos pintoras españolas del siglo xx,Maruja Mallo y Amalia Avia, la primera de ellas formada durante la Segunda Repúblicaespañola y la segunda, tras la Guerra Civil, junto con el análisis del contexto histórico,político y social en el que vivieron, nos va a permitir dilucidar el peso que determinadasinstituciones, como la educativa o la familiar, tuvieron en su profesión y cuáles fueron lasprácticas que alentaron o restringieron su devenir como artistas.
The study of the memories, writings and works of two 20th-century Spanish painters, Maruja Mallo and Amalia Avia, the first of which was trained during the Spanish Republic and the second during the Civil War, together with the analysis of the historical, political and social context in which they lived, allows us to clarify the weight that certain institutions such as education or the family had in their profession and the practices that encouraged or restricted their evolution as artists.
