Abstract
This study is based on the develop and simulation of a numeric model for a micro-lattice block under a compression test. In order to understand the industrial context of these structures, a brief investigation and explanation of the current state of the art is presented. Even though there is a wide variety of geometries for the unit cells, this study and its results focus on the Body Centred Cubic (BCC) configuration in order to analyse the mechanical behaviour of the block made up by these cells through the developed numeric models using finite elements for three different unit cell sizes. Before this, a brief explanation of the other configurations is done using different investigations carried out on SLM fabricated blocks. The compression test has been repeated changing three of the material’s parameters: relative density, elasticity module and yield stress. These three are chosen because of their effect on the mechanical behaviour of microlattice blocks and special attention is taken to their repercussion over the values of apparent elasticity module and yield stress of the structure.
