Abstract
Los títulos de algunas de las obras que se realizaron sobre Hipatia en los tres últimos siglos del segundo milenio definen claramente el impacto mediático del personaje aunque en honor a la verdad hay que subrayar que a nivel español el conocimiento de esta intelectual a nivel de masas, se ha producido a través del impacto que ha producido la película de Amenábar, Ágora. Se denuncia lo que está ocurriendo en un mundo que está perdiendo la racionalidad y sufre repetidos ataques del fundamentalismo que no proviene exclusivamente de las afueras de Occidente sino que esa violencia irracional se encuentra también en las propias entrañas del propio Occidente, pero dicha denuncia se realiza desde fuera como si lo que se presenta fuera totalmente objetivo cuando en realidad se recoge la versión tradicional que provenía de la Ilustración y se minivalora la importancia de la filosofía que constituyó el principal eje de conexión entre Hipatia y sus discípulos.
The titles of some of the works that realised on Hypatia in the three last centuries of the second millennium define clearly the impact of the character although in honour to the truth it is necessary to underline that to Spanish level the knowledge of this intellectual, to level of masses, has produced through the impact that has produced the film of Amenábar, Ágora. It reports what is occurring in a world that is losing the rationality and suffers repeated attacks of the fundamentalism that does not come from exclusively of the outskirts of Occident but this irrational violence finds also in the own comport of the own Occident but said complaint realises from out as if what presents was totally objective when in reality it collects the traditional version that came from of the Illustration and no validity the importance of the philosophy that constituted the main axis of connection between Hipatia and his disciples.
