La representación de los inmigrantes en la ficción televisiva en España. Propuesta para un análisis de contenido. "El Comisario" y "Hospital Central"

Abstract

En los últimos años el mapa demográfico de la sociedad española se ha modificado considerablemente, yendo hacia un modelo cada vez más heterogéneo y multicultural. En líneas generales, los medios de comunicación hegemónicos no han sabido, podido o querido recoger esta visión, evitando ceder la voz a los personajes inmigrantes, estereotipándolos y/o presentándolos en tramas de ilegalidad, exclusión o marginación.Esta investigación tiene como objeto de estudio analizar la imagen de los inmigrantes en la ficción televisiva, en concreto en dos títulos emitidos por la cadena Telecinco, desarrollados en entornos profesionales y con excelentes índices de audiencia en los últimos años: El Comisario y Hospital Central (1999- 2005). Mediante el análisis de contenido de ambas series, se procede a la observación y al estudio de los estereotipos y representación de los inmigrantes. Por otro lado, se contrastan los datos con los procedentes del Instituto Nacional de Estadística en España. Como conclusión, se observa un empleo masivo de estereotipos negativos asociados a la imagen del inmigrante y una correlación entre realidad social y ficción televisiva.

Spanish society is getting more and more multicultural. Demographys has changed considerably. Anyway, hegemonic media, especially televisión fiction as one of the most demanded genres on prime-time, avoiding or just showing them into ilegality, exclusion or margination plots. This research analyzes the image of immigrants in the plots of two of the Spanish workplace series with more audience nowadays. They were from 1999 to 2005. Using a content analyses these series has been estudied and the stereotypes used has been observed. In addition, the results of this study has been compared with the information from the Spanish National Institute of Statistics to show similarities and differences with the results obtained of the reality in the same temporary period. Finally, it has been observed a massive employment of negative stereotypes assigned to the image of the immigrant in both series and a correlation between reality and fiction.
