La determinación temporal del enunciado (IV): El subsistema 2

Abstract

El subsistema 2 corresponde a los determinadores que poseen las marcas generales: temporal (en sentido estricto), no comparativo, no modal, no durativo, sin determinación de repetición, no implica frecuencia de los eventos, deíctico y no anafórico. Y también unas marcas específicas que dan lugar al siguiente conjunto de oposiciones: ± adición, ± inmediato, ± inminente, ± atención al punto de partida, ± definido, ± ocasión homologable siguiente, ± exclusión, ± lejano, ± particularizado, grado de lejanía, ± simultaneidad temporal y ± presuposición de un suceso homólogo. De la unión de estas oposiciones específicas y las marcas generales surge un subsistema de treinta y cuatro tipos diferentes de determinadores. Pero el sentido total del subsistema 2 está determinado por su oposición, como un todo, al subsistema 1 –fundada sobre la marca + deíctico (subsistema 2) / - deíctico (subsistema 1)– y por su oposición al subsistema 3, pues este tiene la marca + anafórico, ausente del subsistema 2.

Subsystem 2 deals with the determiners which gather the following general features: (strictly) temporal, non-comparative, non-modal, non-durative, without determining repetition, not implying the frequency of the events, deictic, non-anaphoric. As far as their specific marks are concerned, these determiners can be described by means of the next oppositions: ± addition, ± immediate, ± imminent, ± stating the exact starting point, ± definite, ± next homologous occasion, ± exclusion, ± remote, ± particularized, ± degree of remoteness, ± temporal simultaneity, ± presupposition of a homologous event. If we link these specific oppositions with the aforementioned general features, we can establish a subsystem of thirty four different types of determiners. Nonetheless, the comprehensive meaning of subsystem 2 is determined by: 1) its opposition (as a whole) to subsystem 1 based on the mark + deictic (subsystem 2) / − deictic (subsystem 1) and 2) by its opposition to subsystem 3 (identified by the mark + anaphoric, which is absent in subsystem 2).
