La determinación temporal del enunciado (III): El subsistema 1

Abstract

Continuando con nuestro estudio de la determinación temporal en español, iniciamos el análisis y formalización de los distintos subsistemas. Cada uno de ellos se define por unos rasgos generales iniciales, descritos en un trabajo anterior, y unas marcas específicas posteriores a partir de las distintas compatibilidades con el aspecto y el tiempo verbales. El subsistema 1 corresponde a los determinadores que poseen las marcas generales: temporal (en sentido estricto), no comparativo, no modal, no durativo, sin determinación de repetición, sin implicar frecuencia de los eventos, no deíctico. También se utilizan unas marcas opositivas hasta cierto punto específicas –en su aparición o no y, eventualmente, en el número de apariciones y orden de las mismas– de este subsistema: no inmediato / inmediato, no definido / definido, sin evento determinador de la estructura performativa / con evento determinador de la estructura performativa, sin presuposición / con presuposición, no anterior / no posterior al evento de la estructura performada – anterioridad – posterioridad, no inminente / inminente e inmediato relativo / inmediato absoluto. De la unión de estas oposiciones específicas a las marcas generales iniciales surge en este caso un subsistema de veintisiete tipos diferentes de determinadores.

Continuing with our investigation of temporal determination in Spanish, we will start the analysis and formalization of the different subsystems, each of which is defined by means of initial general features (described in a previous article) as well as by some other later specific marks which depend on the different compatibilities with regard to verbal aspect and tense. Subsystem 1 deals with the determiners which gather the following general features: (strictly) temporal, non-comparative, non-modal, non-durative, without determining repetition, not implying the frequency of the events, non-deictic. As far as their specific marks are concerned, these determiners (whose specificity has to do with mere ± occurring, their number of occurrences and their order) can be described via the next oppositions: non-immediate/immediate, non-definite/definite, without an event determining the performative structure/with an event determining the performative structure, without any presupposition/with presupposition, neither before/nor after the event of the performed structure-anteriority-posteriority, non-imminent/imminent, relatively immediate/absolutely immediate. If we link these specific oppositions with the aforementioned general features, we can set out a subsystem of twenty-seven different types of determiners.
