Una aproximación al stock de infraestructuras español (1844-1935)

Abstract

En este artículo se presenta una serie anual del stock de infraestructuras español entre 1844 y 1935 y se analiza su mayor o menor adecuación a las necesidades de la economía española. La comparación con otras conocidas europeas de la época, tanto en términos monetarios como físicos, indica una situadón de escasez relativa de infraestructuras en el caso español que se fue agravando con el tiempo y que pudo actuar como factor restrictivo del crecimiento económico durante el período estudiado.

This paper presents an annual series of the Spanish infrastructure stock between 1844 and 1935 and tries to ascertain to what excent in responded to the needs of the Spanish economy. A comparison with other European economies of the time, both in monetary and in physical terms, shows a situation of relative infrastructure shortage in Spain, which progressively deteriorated during the period under analysis.
