Abstract
A description of different company self-assessment methods currently existing in the industry is conducted in this study. A self-assessment is a continuing process through which managers at all levels evaluates the effectiveness of their performance in all areas of responsibility, and determine what improvements are required (The Business Dictionary). Holistic, enterprise-wide self-assessments (European Foundation for Quality Management, Baldrige and Balanced Scorecard) as well as particular areas assessments (innovation, production cleanness and company transformation readiness) are included in this study. The thesis includes the assessments methodology description such as the data gathering process, the scoring system, the industries targeted as well as other characteristics like the assessment developer and content addressed. Following the self-assessment description, further research is conducted through a comparison table, where particular self assessment characteristics for common criteria are exposed in order to help the reader understanding the main differences between the self-assessments previously presented. The reader will also be able to explore the different self-assessment suitability for a particular industry use as well as considering the possibility of combining different assessment characteristics towards creating its own self assessment tool oriented to the particular area he pursues to assess.
