Imágenes en contexto: genealogía, representación social e imaginario pictórico del cuerpo femenino

Abstract

A través del desnudo se plantean apasionantes problemas culturales, estéticos, políticos y artísticos. El análisis genealógico de tres obras realizadas en diferentes momentos históricos y con funciones sociales muy distintas, como son la Venus de Botticelli, la Venus de Urbino de Tiziano y la Venus del Espejo de Velázquez, nos muestra cómo esos cuadros sirvieron para configurar el ideal de mujer dominante en cada época y la construcción social de la feminidad en Occidente.

Through the study of art nude, the following paper will approach cultural, aesthetic, political and artistic issues. Through a genealogical analysis of three works of art, made in different historical moments and with very different social purposes, such as The Birth of Venus by Botticelli, The Venus of Urbino by Titian and The Rokeby Venus by Velázquez, we will see how the ideal figure for a woman was constructed in each period and how the social construction of femininity used to work in the western culture.
