Abstract
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
There is a growing problem in Spain because of the growing increase in the number of new power plants increasingly delocalized and the greater degree of flexibility and reliability required by the Spanish system, for this reason in many parts of geography produce a shortcircuit currents higher than initially had been taken in the design phase, because if there are more points of failure interconnected that contribute to an increase due to the higher mesh network. For all this we analyze a substation is in this situation, like many others in Spain, it will analyze the substation areas are particularly sensitive to these increases in short circuit current, such as the network of land, busbars of the substation or switchgear. The network of land charge to dissipate ground short-circuit current has to perform this function without causing a deterioration of the same by heating to produce current and without generating hazardous potential differences in humans. Responsible for driving the busbars to connect the lines from different geographical locations have to be able to withstand the mechanical efforts produced by the electromagnetic effect caused by the passage of the short circuit current and thermal stresses caused withstand without suffering the least damage. Similarly the switchgear should be able to support the new short-circuit current without causing damage directly affecting the integrity of the installation and safety of operating personnel of the substation. Therefore, it is necessary to take urgent measures and that it would enter a phase in which, after an investment to increase system reliability effects occur which cause the opposite result and therefore the initial investment will have been a real wastage.
